Garner - Floyd I. Dodd, 84, of Garner, died Sunday (Sept. 16, 2001) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

His memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Garner with the Rev. Kay Hooper officiating Inurnment will be in Concord Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.

Floyd Ivan Dodd, the son of Guy Walton and Stella Eulalia (Lundy) Dodd, was born Jan. 3, 1917, at Klemme. He attended school at Clear Lake and then worked at the Clear Lake Cooperative Creamery.

On Feb. 10, 1940, he married Netha Ilene Moorehead at Clear Lake. They lived in Clear Lake, Bode and in 1944, moved to Garner where Floyd worked at the Garner Cooperative Creamery.

In 1965, he was employed by the City of Garner in the Public Works Department. In 1973, he returned to manage the creamery in Garner and retired when it closed in 1982.

On May 13, 1978, he married Joyce (Stensland) Smith of Ames at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner. Floyd and Joyce spent their winters in Texas every year since 1982. He enjoyed his family, woodworking, playing cards and working with tools.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Master Buttermakers Association, Garner Lions Club, Garner Chamber of Commerce and served on the Garner City Council for 12 years.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Garner; three children, Jeralyn Palmer and her husband, Jim, of Anaheim, Calif., Judy Snow and her husband, David, of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Ivan Dodd and his wife, Carole, of Garner; stepchildren, Ellen Duffy and her husband, Pete, of Knoxville and Gary Smith and his wife, Nancy, of Overland Park, Kan.; ten grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Dodd, of Clear Lake, and Ralph Dodd and his wife, Theo, of Clear Lake, Calif.; a sister, Myrna Schmidt, of Garner; a sister-in-law, Verneil Dodd Quintus, and her husband, Jerry, of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Netha, Nov. 25, 1975; parents; two brothers, Dean and Robert Dodd; and a sister, Lillian Ginn.
