Services for Mildred A. Haes, 90, of Garner, who died Thursday, April 30, 1998, were held 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 4, at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Pastor Kay Hooper officiating.

Music was provided by Mrs. Beverly Cataldo. Ushers were Maynard and Marvin Schoneman.

Casket bearers were Daniel Goll, Dorian Goll, Dean Goll, Reuben "Butch" Whitehurst, Clint Stille and Bill Yohn.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery, Garner. Cataldo Funeral Home, Garner was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred A. Haes, the daughter of William and Martha (Kittleson) Haes, was born April 29, 1908, on a farm west of Garner. She attended the rural schools and graduated from Garner High School. She joined the Northwest Bell telephone company in Garner on July 16, 1928, becoming group chief operator in 1940. She was transferred to Iowa Falls in 1946 as chief operator and retired in 1973 with 44 years and nine months of service with Northwest Bell. After retiring, she returned to Garner to be closer to her family. In October of 1997 she moved to Concord Care Center due to ill health.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and had served on the Rebekah Circle. She also belonged to the Pioneers of Northwest Bell and the Business and Professional Women's Club of Iowa Falls.

She is survived by her cousins, Robertine Gatchel of Garner, Doris Goll and husband, Dean of Garner and Jeanne Stille and husband, Clint of Emmetsburg, and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ernest Haes.
