Services Thursday for Ruth Hicks

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth E. Hicks of Forest City will be held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon at the Petersen Funeral home. The Rev. Steven Dornbusch, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran church, will officiate.

Mrs. Russell Lewis will be organist and Mr. and Mrs. Rolfe Holtan, soloists. Casket bearers will be Arlyn Rauk, Eric Holtan, Leslie Drugg, Rolfe Holtan, Tom Lillquist and Steve Lillquist. Burial will be in Madison Township cemetery.

Mrs. Hicks, 91, died Saturday at the Lake Mills care center.

Ruth E. Hicks, the daughter of George and Susan Potts Stull, was born Sept. 24, 1893, at Storm Lake. She attended school and graduated from Storm Lake high school. She was married to Milton Hicks in the Baptist church in Hampton.

After being in business in Hampton for several years, they moved to Swea City where they farmed for two years. In 1919, they moved to Forest City where they continued to farming until they retired. After her husband's death she continued to live on the farm until 1983 when she moved to the Lake Mills care center.

Survivors include several nephews and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Stull of Storm Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
