Mrs. George Malek Burial Held

Funeral services for Mrs. George Malek, 91, long time resident was held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. Visitation and the Rosary was said Tuesday evening at 8:00 in the Boughton-Cataldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Malek died Monday evening in the Westview Manor Home where she had resided since in January.

The Rev. Monsignor John P. Chihak, offered the Resurrection Mass. The Organist was Rose Ann Malek, for the Church Choir. The Servers for the Mass was Don Malek, Thomas Kofron and Tim Tusha, The Ushers were Roger Kofron and Melvin Wellik. Mrs. Malek was laid to rest in St. John's Cemetery in Duncan. Casket bearers were, William Malek II, David Malek, Duane Malek, Nicholas Lamoreaux, Leo Wellik and James Kofron II.

Antonia Fiala, daughter of James and Ann (Hrubes) Fiala, was born February 18, 1885, at Geneva, Iowa. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. Her education was received in the rural schools near Ackley. On October 17, 1905, she was united in marriage to George Malek in the St. Wenceslaus Church in Duncan. The couple established their first home near Duncan. They had 3 sons and 4 daughters, William, Agnes, Beatrice, Bernadine, Ernest, Therssa and Clement. The family moved to Michigan, North Dakota, where they farmed for 3 years then returned to the vicinity of Duncan until retirement to Britt. Mr. Malek died on March 5, 1968,

She is survived by her 3 sons and 3 daughters, William and his wife, Lillian; Mrs. Beatrice Kofron, both rural Britt; Bernadine and her husband Daryl Lamoreaux, Mason City; Ernest and his wife Clara, Britt; Thressa and her husband Durard Suby, Winter Garden, Florida; Clement and his wife, Alice, Britt. Also surviving are 35 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter Agnes, wife of Jilji Wellik who also survives her. Also preceding her in death was 4 sisters, Anna Mulkin, Barbara Vonasek, Rose Ptacek, and Mary Brozil, as well as her son-in-law James Kofron.
