Services for May Hartbeck, 94 of Mason City, formerly of Klemme, who died Saturday, Oct. 5, 1996, at the Heritage Care Center in Mason City were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme with Rev. Georgia White-Kisslring as officiant.

Mrs. Harley Nuehring was organist.

Casket bearers were Leland Jurgemeyer, Duane Jurgemeyer, David Jurgemeyer, William Jurgemeyer, Douglas Seim, Tim Seim, Matt Seim and Dean Fritzemeier.

Burial was in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme. Cataldo Funeral Home of Garner was in charge of arrangements.

May Anna Hartbeck, the daughter of Charles Richard and Maude Estella (Temby) Rosenau, was born May 1, 1902 on a farm in Wright County. May graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1920 with a Normal Training Teaching Certificate. She taught in a rural school near Klemme.

In 1923, she married Leslie Leonard Hartbeck at her parents farm home near Ventura. They farmed near Klemme, until they retired in 1952 and moved into Klemme. After her sight and health failed, she moved to Heritage Care Center in Mason City in April of 1990. She enjoyed her family, sewing and reading.

She was an active member of Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, especially enjoying Dorcas Circle and making quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Lucille Jurgemeyer and her husband, Louis of Garner, Marjorie Jurgemeyer and her husband, Everett of Mason City, Esther Seim and her husband, Gene of Marshalltown and Miriam Fritzemeier and her husband, William of Muskegon, MI; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie L. Hartbeck, September 15, 1969; an infant great-grandson, Derek Seim; her parents; a sister, Vida Bokelman; and two brothers Fredrick Rosenau and Emil Rosenau.
