Services for Albert "Butch" Nielsen, 83, Britt, who died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held Tuesday, March 3, 10:30 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with Rev. James A. Mattson officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Donna Tech, who accompanied congregational hymns and vocalists, Becky Nielsen and Albert Nielsen. Ushers were Melvin Pergande and Paul Smith.

Honorary casket bearers were Robert Bravick, Emery Schroeder, C.R. Hesley, Elmer Sweers, Ron Nedved, Ron Sweers, Robert C. Olson and Dean Weiland.

Active bearers were Bob Nielsen, Jeff Nielsen, Brad Nielsen, Mark Nielsen, Dean Nielsen, Paul Nielsen and Steve Nielsen.

Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery, Britt, with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Albert "Butch" Nielsen, the son of Aksel and Christian Kristofferson Nielsen, was born April 24, 1914, in Guide Rock, NE. As a young boy, he moved with his parents to Canada where he attended school. The family then moved to LuVerne where he continued his education in country schools.

Butch worked as a manager at the Hanna Ranch in LuVerne.

November 26, 1932, he married Cordelia Ristau in Canton, SD. The couple made their home in LuVerne, where they farmed until 1953. They then moved to a farm south of Hutchins where they farmed until 1980 when they retired and moved into Britt.

Butch liked to fish, hunt and help his sons. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Britt since 1953, where he was very active, holding several offices.

He is survived by his wife, Cordelia; his sons, Jerry and his wife, Joan of Wesley, James and his wife, Joyce of Aurora, IL, Dale and his wife, Jane of Britt, Ronald and his wife, Jan of San Diego, CA, and Roger and his wife, Beverly of Britt; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Jackson of LuVerne; a sister-in-law, Helen Nielsen of LuVerne; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, five brothers and two sisters.
