Rites for Mrs. John Liska Thur., At 10

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, Feb. 2, at 10 o'clock at St. Boniface Catholic church, Garner, for Mrs. John Liska. Mrs. Liska, died in the Lake Rest home, Clear Lake, early on Tuesday morning, Jan. 31. She had been in the rest home for some eight weeks, but had been quite ill for several months prior to going to the home.

Mary Eleanor Chizek (Liska) was born in Winneshiek county, Iowa, on April 13, 1886; a daughter of Albert and Veronica (Sernett) Chizek. When she was seven years of age the family moved to a farm in Garfield township of this county.

On June 11, 1912, she was married to John Liska at the St. Boniface church in Garner, by the Rev. Father Vincent Opava.

The couples early married years were spent in Britt, and they then began farming in Garfield township, and continued farming until 1951, when they moved to Garner. They moved into a home on west Fourth street, Garner, upon their retirement.

To this marriage were born 9 children, who with the husband, survive Mrs. Liska. There are four daughters; Mrs. Warren (Veronica) Thada, Garner; Mrs. E. C. (Doris) Fosdick, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Alfred (Rosemary) Schroeder, Garden Grove, California; and Mrs. Lewis (Barbara Ann) Nedved. Britt;. and five sons; Leo, Albert Lea, Minn.; Walter, Davenport; Donald, Latimer; John J., Britt; and Cletus of Mason City.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and two sisters and five brothers; Mrs. Anna Liska, Hamar, N. Dak.; Lena (Mrs. Charlie Nedved, sr.), Frank Chizek of Garner; Joe Chizek, Britt; Steve Chizek, Garner; William Chizek, Britt; & Albert Chizek, Garner.

Pallbearers for the services will be; George Nedved, Rudy Nedved, William Chizek, Walter Chizek, Clarence Chizek, and Virgil Chizek.

Interment will take place at the St. Boniface Catholic cemetery west of Garner.
