Services for Mrs. Alma Steenhard, 83, of Britt, who died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 1989 at her home in Prairie View Apartments in Garner, were held 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 18 at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with Rev. James A. Mattson as officiant.

Mrs. Tom Buns, organist, accompanied David Tegtmeyer and John Tegtmeyer, who sang as a duet. Ushers were Paul Smith and Charles Ashland.

Casket bearers were Robert Weiland, Roger Weiland, Roland Weiland, Clarence Weiland, Donald Weiland and Dean Weiland.

Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt.

Alma Amelia Steenhard, the daughter of Frederick and Pauline (Wenzlaff) Missal, was born May 23, 1906 on a farm near Britt. She attended the rural schools of Hancock County.

February 24, 1926, she married Claas Steenhard at the First Lutheran Church in Britt. They farmed near Chapin and then northwest of Hutchins until 1952, when her husband, Claas, died. ln 1956, she moved into Britt, where she lived until 1988, when she moved to Prairie View Apartments in Garner. Alma had worked at the Federated Store in Britt for many years.

She was a member of First Lutheran Chruch, A. L. C. A. and Britt Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Delores Love and her husband, Wayne, of Belmond and Mrs. Marlys Stille and her husband, Jerry of Lake Mills; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; her sister, Mrs. Esther Boening of Bethel, Park, PA; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claas; an infant daughter, Darlene Steenhard; her son, Eugene F. Steenhard, December 3, 1987; a grandson, Rodney Stille; her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Holtorf and Mrs. Ethel Lubben Mortensen; and two brothers, Fred Missal and Herbert "Bud" Missal.
