Services for Sylvia Helps Krabbe, 55, of Clear Lake, formerly of Dows and Garner who died Wednesday, June 12, 1996, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 14, at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter with Pastor Louise E. Stromberg as officiant.

Mrs. Wendell Johansen, organist, accompanied, Mrs. Paul Krabbe, soloist. Wendell Johansen served as an usher.

Casket bearers were Allan DeWitt, Kenneth Paca, Jack Christiansen, Lowell Broer, Raymond Helps and Oscar "Jim" Olson.

Burial was held at 2 p.m., Friday at Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation was Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Sylvia Irene Helps Krabbe, the daughter of Elmer Carl and Kathryn (Harthan) Jante, was born November 25, 1940, at Garner. She attended the rural schools of Hancock County and then graduated from Garner-Hayfield High School in 1958.

March 26, 1959, she married Stanley Helps in Las Vegas. They made their home in Garner. Sylvia held various jobs in North Iowa; especially enjoying her position as secretary at Garner-Hayfield High School.

August 11, 1978, she married Dean Krabbe at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner. They made their home on a farm between Dows and Coulter. Sylvia also worked at Sperry-Unisys in Clear Lake, Duplex Products, Inc. in Hampton and was a distributor for Shaklee Products. In November of 1995, they moved to Clear Lake. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, sewing, music, nature, traveling and meeting new friends.

She was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Ladies Circle and Concerned Women of America. She also sang in the church choir.

She is survived by her husband, Dean Krabbe of Dows and Clear Lake; her four children, DeEtta Kluver and her husband, Lynn of Crystal Lake, Denise Pralle and her husband, Brian of Manchester, Darrel Helps and his wife, Lara of Choctaw, OK, and Dixie Helps of Minneapolis, MN; four stepchildren, Larry Krabbe of Coulter, Kimberly Crafton of Rowan, Pamela Davis and her husband, Johnnie of South Carolina and Scott Krabbe and his wife, Pam of Latimer; five grandchildren, Logan Pralle, Justin Helps, Lane Pralle, Tyler Helps and Taylor Kluver; five step grandchildren, Matthew Crafton, Josh Krabbe, Derek Krabbe, Tyler Krabbe and Felicia Davis; her stepmother, Rudy Jante of Garner; a sister, Sally Prohaska and her husband, Verne of Garner; and a brother, Sidney Jante and his wife, Evelyn of Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Helps, September 5, 1976; her mother, Kathryn Jante, April 30, 1970; and her father, Elmer Jante, November 10, 1991.
