Services for Mrs. Mary Jane Swanson, 53, of Eden Prairie. MN, who died Sunday, July 19, 1992 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, July 23, at First Lutheran Church in Britt with Rev. James Mattson as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo, organist, will accompany soloists Eugene Guenther and Charles McLaughlin. Ushers will be Paul Smith and Melvin Pergande.

Honorary bearers will be Todd Harvey, Scott Harvey, Monte Harvey, Kim Swanson, David Harvey and Gary Madsen.

Active bearers will be Jeff Swanson, Mike Swanson, Craig Swanson, Randy Swanson, Monte Swanson and Rodney Swanson.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Britt.

Mary Jane Swanson, the daughter of Walter and Pearl (Hoskins) Harvey, was born June 25, 1939 at Forest City. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Britt. She graduated from Britt High School in 1957 and later attended Waldorf College, the University of Miami, the University of Minnesota and Drake University where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. June 29, 1958 she married Eugene Swanson at the First Lutheran Church in Britt.

Mary Jane was an organist and choir director for many churches. She had directed several musicals, her favorite being "The Sound of Music." She was one of the founders of the WHAS Volunteer Ambulance Service in Britt. She was co-owner of the Harvey Insurance Agency in Britt. In 1980, she moved to Eden Prairie with her family. She had worked for Frank B. Hall Insurance Agency, First Insurance Agency, Merrill Lynch Realty and currently had been employed by Risk Management Resources in Eden Prairie. She was active in a support group for parents of children with learning disabilities.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Swanson of Eden Prairie; her children, Brent Swanson and his wife, Julie of Vero Beach, FL, Mrs. Tonja Green and her husband, Ronald of Milpitas, CA, Mrs. Kristie Boleman and her husband, Jeff of Chaska, MN and Timothy Swanson of Eden Prairie, MN; and her brother, Dr. Jerry D. Harvey and his wife, Jan of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, James Edwin Harvey, who died August 8, 1963.
