1937-1986

Services for William Allen Raw, 49, who died Sept. 24 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan with Rev. Dale J. Rausch officiating. Lector was Kenneth Paca and mass servers were Marvin Zrostlik, Ron Damisch and Steve Zrostlik.

Organist was Mrs. Mary Kopacek and music was provided by St. Wenceslaus Church Choir. Ushers were Melvin Wellik and Johnny Zrostlik.

Casket bearers were Don Schleusner, Eldon Thompson, Greg Schulz, Denny Drabek, Floyd Cutshall and Robert Jacobs. Interment was in St. John's Cemetery, Duncan. Services were under the direction of Ewing Funeral Home.

William Allen Raw, 49, son of Elmer and Gretta (Duitscher) Raw was born May 10, 1937 in Garner and received his education at the Britt Schools graduating in 1955. He entered the Armed Services in 1960 and served in Germany until 1961. He was a member of the Army Reserves until 1965.

On April 16, 1963 he married Janet Marie Ptacek at Britt. He was employed by the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in Garner. Later he moved with his family to Pendleton, Oregon where he was employed by Pendleton Grain Growers. In 1975 they returned to Britt. Bill had been employed by the Urich Implement, the Newman-Oulman Implement and most recently, Garner Equipment as parts manager.

He was a member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan.

William was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Janet; two daughters: Tracy, a student at Central College, Pella, Tammy, at home, and a son, Tony, at home; two sisters: Kathryn and husband, James Gatchel of Garner, Normajene and husband Roger Collier of Clarion; and one brother, Richard Raw of Pendleton, Oregon.
