Services for Larry Ackarman, 54, of Mason City, formerly of Garner, who died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1994 at North Iowa Mercy Healthcare Center in Mason City were held 3 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Rev. John W. Hemann as celebrant.

Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Garner. Cataldo Funeral Home of Garner was in charge of arrangements. Visitation was Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner.

Lawrence "Larry" Leon Ackarman, the son of Estel "Jim" and Dorothy Catherine (Flaig) Ackarman, was born April 5, 1940 at Lone Rock. He moved with his family from Lone Rock to a farm south of Ventura and then in 1953 to Garner. Larry graduated from Garner High School in 1958 and then served his country in the U. S. Navy.

January 26, 1963, he married Leean Lowe at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner. Larry worked for the Iowa State Department of Transportation for over 20 years. He had also worked in construction and as a carpenter.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.

He is survived by his three children, Michele Schwickerath and her husband, Kevin of Garner, Brenda Sioson and her husband, Rudy of Georgetown, TX and Todd Ackarman and his wife, Lisa of Riverside, CA; four grandchildren; a sister, Luella Barton and her husband, William of Atlanta, GA; and two brothers, Don Ackarman and his wife, Delores of Clear Lake and Claude Ackarman and his wife, Charlotte of Elko, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
