Services for Shirley Jones, 83, of Charles City, formerly of Garner, who died Sunday, May 7, 1989 at Charles City will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 10 at St. John's Lutheran Church northeast of Garner with Rev. Reynold Petersen as officiant.

Mrs. Roland Boehnke, organist, will accompany soloist, Mrs. Harlan Hayes. Ushers will be Robert Ollenburg, Ed Furness, and Arlo Woiwod.

Casket bearers will be Mike Jamtgaard, Mark Jamtgaard, David Jones, Arlo Olson, Jerry Wetterling and Dick Hagen.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at Garner. Visitation will be after 1 p.m., Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Shirley Lloyd Jones, the son of William and Lillian (Clark) Jones, was born June 3, 1905 at Hanlontown. He attended school at Fertile where he graduated from high school. He moved to Miller with his family where they farmed.

June 25, 1930, he married Lillian Wetterling at St. John's Lutheran Church, northeast of Garner. They moved to Mason City, where Shirley worked for Decker's Meat Packing Plant. In 1945, they moved to Garner, where he was in the plumbing business until he retired in 1983. His wife, Lillian, died October 24, 1978 in Garner.

February 25, 1983, he married Lois Jante McCabe at St. John's Lutheran Church northeast of Garner. They made their home in Charles City. Shirley lost his wife, Lois, April 21, 1989.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lutheran Laymen's League for 32 years and was vice-president of St. John's Cemetery Committee for 26 years.

He is survived by his son, Coral Jones and his wife, June, of Pensacola, FL; his daughter, Mrs. Jeanine Jamtgaard of Clear Lake; a stepson, Merlin McCabe and his wife, Mary Ann, of Cedar Falls; 4 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; 5 step-great-grandchildren and his sister, Mrs. Florence Sorenson from the state of Washington.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Lillian and Lois; his infant son, Lloyd Ervin Jones; his parents; and a sister, Mrs. Alti Rodberg.
