Joseph Kral, 81

Services for Joseph Kral, 81, of Garner, who died Sunday at his home in Garner, were held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Rev. Msgr. Roger E. O'Brien as celebrant. Phil Garland was lector.

Ushers were Elmer Urich and Merle Deibler. Mrs. Ronald Kumsher, organist, accompanied the church choir.

Casketbearers were Stephen Kral, Thomas Kral, Eugene Jakoubek, Daryl Jakoubek, John Nelson and Clarence Kral.

Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Duncan. Parish and Catholic Workman's rosaries were held Tuesday evening at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Joseph Frank Kral, the son of Joseph and Marie (Jedlicka) Kral was born Nov. 28, 1902 at Pilzen, Czechoslovakia. At the age of seven he came to the United States with his family and lived in Chicago. They then settled in the Belmond and Garner areas where they farmed.

October 9, 1934, he married Abbie Jakoubek at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner. They farmed near Garner until December of 1949 when they moved into town. For 19 years, Joe worked for Hancock County in the Maintenance Department retiring in 1969.

He is survived by his wife, Abbie; his son, Robert and his wife, Marilyn, of Garner; four grandchildren, Stephen, Thomas, Judy and Linda; a sister, Mrs. Theresa Chalus of Chicago; and, two brothers, James Kral and his wife, Mary, of Taylor, Wisc. and Martin Kral and his wife, Adeline, of Thompson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Evelyn Margaret Kral; his parents; a sister, Mrs. Mary Spector and two brothers: Charles Kral and Anton Kral.
