Services for Mrs. Bessie Liska, 84, of Garner, who died Tuesday, March 3, 1987 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 6 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Rev. Msgr. Roger E. O'Brien as celebrant. Cletus Hejlik served as lector.

Mrs. Ronald Kumsher, organist, accompanied the church choir. Ushers were Elmer Urich, Robert Kral, George Tlach and George Hrubes. Casketbearers were Gary Hejlik, Jerry Hejlik, Kenneth Hejlik, Don Kopacek, Paul Wellik and Don Trca.

Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Duncan. Visitation and rosaries by St. Wenceslaus Rosary Society, St. Boniface Rosary Society and St. Boniface Parish were held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Mrs. Bessie A. Liska, the daughter of John and Rosa (Urich) Hejlik was born February 10, 1903 on a farm in Garfield Township. She received her education at Garfield Township School #8.

November 20, 1940, she was married to Frank Liska at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan. They moved to Chester, Mont., where they farmed for eight years. In 1948, they retired from farming and moved to a farm east of Duncan. Her husband, Frank, died in 1973.

In 1974, Bessie moved into Garner. She had resided at Concord Manor Care Center since September of 1986 due to ill health. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner and was an honorary member of Rosary Society at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Lillian Wellik of Britt; two brothers, Ralph Hejlik and his wife, Vlasta, of Garner and Raymond Hejlik and his wife, Marie of Rockwell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; one brother, Frank Hejlik and one sister, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Trca.
