1935-1999

Funeral services were held for Monte B. Hiscocks, 64, of Britt on Thursday, December 23, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Britt with Rev. Marvin Bries and Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiating.

Music was provided by organist Brenda Smith who accompanied soloist Kelly Monroe.

Casketbearers were Monte "Bill" Hiscocks, David Hiscocks, Paul G. Smith, Michael Hiscocks, Roger Jacobson and Jan Raber. Ushers were Allan Doughan, Marvin Holck and Bob Horstman.

Interment was held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with the Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Monte Benedict Hiscocks, was born January 18, 1935 in Britt, the son of Robert H. and Mavis Rapp Hiscocks. He attended Britt Community Schools and graduated in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1958 when he was honorably discharged. He married Catherine Paca on April 22, 1958, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan.

Monte loved to farm and did so south of Britt for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing and drinking coffee at the "Whippy Dips" with his friends, supporting his children's activities and spending time with his grandchildren.

Monte is survived by his wife Catherine (Kay) of Britt, his children: Monte William of Britt; Michael and his wife Elisabeth (Lisa), of Carrolton, TX; David of Dallas, TX; Lisa Loecher and her husband Ron of Cedar Falls; and Carmen Jamtgaard and her husband Mark of Red Oak, six grandchildren: Cory, Zachary and Emma Hiscocks, Isaac and Luke Loecher, and Katherine Jamtgaard, six brothers and sisters: Bonnie Doughan and her husband Gene of Pequtot Lakes, MN; William and his wife Irene of Garner, Donald and his wife Gloria of Britt; Dean and his wife Marie of Dexter, MN; Jon of Britt; Judy Becker and her husband Ken of Ankeny and Dorothy Hiscocks of Britt; two brothers-in law; Dale Nielsen of Britt and Steve Caspersen of Sioux Falls, SD, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, two brothers, Alan and Robert Jr., two sisters: Jane and Nancy, and a sister-in-law, Beverly.
