He had been confined to his home nearly all winter but of late he had seemed much better and was up and around the home Saturday. On December 12, 1888, lie was married to Marry E. Barsalou. To this union were born three children, two of which, Clarence, and Howard, together with the wife, five brothers and two sisters, survive him.

Deceased had been superintendent of the county hospital and poor farm ever since it was instituted. He was a congenial gentleman and well liked by all who knew him. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Rebekahs and M. W A.

The funeral was held at the county hospital on Tuesday, the service being conducted by Rev. Jackson, of Garner, and the remains were taken to Garner for burial, the Odd Fellows conducting the last sad rites at the grave.
