Services for Millard Clement, 88, of Garner, who died Thursday, Nov. 14, 1996, at Concord Care Center in Garner, were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 18, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with Rev. Willis Nicholson as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo was organist and soloist.

Casket bearers were nephews, Ronald Kester, Leroy Kester, Jerry Kester, Merle Clement, Gary Clement, Craig Clement, Bruce Clement, Douglas Clement, Spencer Clement and Stuart Clement.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation was held Sunday afternoon at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Millard Dean Clement, the son of William Wellington and Ada LaVina (Reynolds) Clement, was born June 30, 1908 at Bradford, IL. In 1916, the family moved to a farm south of Miller. After attending school at Miller, he farmed with his parents and later with his brother, Clark. Millard had lived at Duncan Heights in Duncan from 1978-94. In 1994, due to ill health, he moved to Concord Care Center in Garner. He enjoyed reading, dancing, gardening and farming while living at Duncan Heights and Concord Care Center.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Garner and had served on the Resident's Council at Duncan Heights.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Martha Clement of Forest City and Eugenia Clement of Hondo, TX; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Guernsey of Lake Mills; and thirteen nieces and nephews, Ronald Kester and his wife, Beverly of Greene, Leroy Kester and his wife, Susan of Story City, Jerry Kester and his wife, Karen of Lake Mills, Merle Clement and his wife, Sandra of Forest City, Gary Clement of Forest City, Craig Clement of Garner, Elizabeth Clement Smith and her husband, Daniel of Coon Rapids, MN, Bruce Clement and his wife, Laurel of Garner, Joan Hillier and her husband, Paul of Chehalis, WA, Douglas Clement and his wife, Mary of Garner, Spencer Clement and his wife, Karin of Fort Dodge, Stuart Clement of Fort Dodge, and Muriel Poppens and her husband, Scott of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilda Guernsey; three brothers, Clark R. Clement, January 11, 1967, John R. Clement in April of1984, and Roland A. Clement, August 1, 1990; and two nephews, Roger Clement and Neal Clement.
