Services for Mrs. Blanche Taylor, 102, of Garner, who died Friday, June 5, 1992 at Concord Care Center in Garner, will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 9 at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Robert T. Ellis as officiant.

Mrs. Richard Johnson, organist, will accompany Clarke Pollock, soloist. Vern Butz will serve as usher.

Honorary bearers will be Emil Christensen and Laurence Greiman.

Active bearers will be Merlyn Borchers, Burke Haberkamp, Maynard Schoneman, Don Nedved, Joe Huinker and Brian Roberts.

Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner, Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Blanche Elsie Taylor, the daughter of William H. and Mabel (Hobbs) Coons, was born October 27, 1889 on a farm near Marietta, IL. At the age of 16, she moved with her family to Cozad, NE, where she, graduated from high school in 1906. After receiving her teaching certificate at Central College in Pella, she taught in three rural schools in southern Iowa.

June 1, 1911, she married Otho Logan at her parents home in Thayer. They lived in Winterset, until 1918, when they moved to the Kiester-Bricelyn, MN area, where they farmed for many years. In 1935, they moved to Scarville, where they operated a filling station for five years. In 1940, they moved to Hayfield, where they operated Logan's Grocery Store until 1955, when they moved into Garner. Blanche was a
cook at Denny's Cafe in Garner until 1961. She lost her husband, Otho in 1959, after 48 years of marriage.

November 15, 1961, she was married to A. C. Taylor at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea, MN. He died in 1963. In 1979, Blanche moved to Prairie View Apartments in Garner. She had resided at Concord Care Center in Garner since 1990. Over the years, Blanche had enjoyed horse races, stock car races, cooking, crocheting, sewing, playing cards and visiting with friends.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W., Grandmother's Club and the Garner Senior Citizens. She is survived by her son-in-law, Harry Johnson and his wife, Mildred of Albert Lea, MN; her step-son, Maynard Taylor of Hampton; four grandchildren, Mrs. Carol Lowe and her husband, John of San Antonio, TX, Mrs. LeAnn Isaacs and her husband, Larry of Tulsa, OK, Lowell Johnson and his wife, Joan, of Tucson, AZ. and Linda Johnson of Sunnyvale. CA; three step-grandchildren, Mike Taylor of Lena, IL, Steve Taylor of Austin, TX and Dennis Taylor of Papillion, NE, nine great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren and one great-great step-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Otho Logan and A. C. Taylor; her daughter, Mrs. Arline Johnson in 1976; her parents; a grandson, Garry Johnson; two sisters, Mrs. Frieda Studley and Mrs. Jessie Iverson; and three brothers, Cleo Coons, Ralph Coons and Carl Coons.
