Mrs. F. L. Dow Passes Away, Funeral Here

Mrs. Florence L. Dow died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Russell Garland, at Stockton, Kansas, following an illness extending over a period of years, and the end coming following the third stroke of paralysis.

Florence Christie, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Christie, was born at Amsterdam in this county January 9, 1869. With her parents she moved to Garner a few years later when her father became the first county auditor of Hancock County. Her life from that time until very recent years was spent here.

She was married to Erwin Dow, and to them were born two children, Mrs. Russell Garland of Stockton, Kansas, and Shirley Dow who lives at Estherville. She later worked in the different offices in the court house for a number of years, and for some time was in charge of the business of the Hancock County Abstract Co. Failing health caused her to give up this work some six or eight years ago and go and live with her children.

She leaves to mourn her passing her mother, Mrs. Polly Christie; one brother and three sisters, Mrs. D. M. Dennison of Minneapolis, J. S. Christie of Seattle, Mrs. H. A. Rice and Mrs. M. T. Love of Garner. She also has four grandchildren, Russell and Lawrence Garland, Vivian and Marjory Dow.

Mrs. Dow has many friends in this locality, people who have lived here a number of years. She was a very pleasant person, and an efficient office woman.

The funeral will be held this afternoon ***** [paper fold tear]
