Services for John Kollasch, 43, of Garner, who died Saturday, May 13, 1989, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 16 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner with Rev. Msgr. John Chihak as celebrant.

Mrs. Ronald Kumsher, organist, accompanied the church choir. Ushers were Elmer Urich and Robert Kral.

Honorary bearers were Robert "Buck" Nonnweiler, Collin Fjetland, James Papouchis and Harvey Mitchell.

Active bearers were Ron Trca, Bob Miller, Dave Carroll, Kim Nelson, Herman Helmers and Chuck Jones.

Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Garner. Visitation and a Scriptural Wake Service by the parish were held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

John Robert Kollasch, the son of Robert and Viola (Roelfsema) Kollasch was born, June 29, 1945 at Blue Earth, MN. He attended school at Lakota; graduating in 1963. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad for several years and then at McQuay Industries at Spirit Lake.

July 20, 1968, he married Linda R. Divan at Thompson. In 1970, they moved to Garner. John worked at Winnebago Industries at Forest City, Swift Farm Service Center at Duncan for two years, Iowa Mold and Tooling Company in Garner; built houses for Nordaa's Homes in the North Iowa area and worked for the Nonweiler and Reichart as a carpenter. In 1978, he returned to Winnebago Industries in Forest City, where he worked until February of 1989; leaving due to ill health.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Garner and the Gambler's Car Club of North Central Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Kollasch of Garner; his son, Michael J. Kollasch of Garner; his mother, Mrs. Viola Kollasch of Lakota; four sisters, Mrs. Linda Schutz and her husband, Reuben, of Hutchinson, MN; Mrs. Judy Rusher and her husband, Kurtis, of Austin, MN; Mrs. Jolene French and her husband, Les, of Alden and Mrs. Debra Scaden and her husband, Rob of Iowa Falls; his brother, Tim Kollasch of Ames; and 16 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Kollasch in January of 1989 and his infant twin sister, Mary Kollasch.
