Services for Mrs. Blanche E. Valley, 86, of Woden, who died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1986 at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City, were held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 29 at First Presbyterian Church in Woden with Rev. Dr. James Chambers as officiant.

Mrs. Arlene Rittenhouse, organist, accompanied soloist, Beryl Buffington. Roger Wood served as usher.

Casket bearers were Don Isebrand, Ervin Tegtmeyer, Fred Hugo, Jr., Lyle Doege, Dallas Christensen and Johnny Buns.

Burial was in Bingham Township Cemetery south of Woden. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden.

Blanche Elvira Valley, the daughter of Hans O. and Clara May (Nelson) Hanson was born May 1, 1900 at Duncombe. She attended the rural schools near Duncombe. As a young woman, she moved with her family, to a farm near Woden.

September 23, 1919, she was married to Ray David Valley at Crystal Lake. They spent their entire married life in Woden. Blanche had resided at the Good Samaritan Center in Forest City since Sept. 22 of this year.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Woden, U.P.W. and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her children, Mrs. Ed (Eva Ruth) Meyer of Dows, Mrs. W.J. (Charlotte) Larson of Forest City, Stanley F. and his wife, Vivian, of Cartersville, Ill., James and his wife, Darlene, of Eufaula, Okla., Mrs. Carol (Hazel) Rivers of Mesa, Ariz., Charles A. of San Antonio, TX and JoAnn Longerbone of San Diego, Calif.; her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Penny Valley of Clarion; 30 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; her brother, Raymond Hanson and his wife, Sophie, of West Branch and her sister, Mrs. Reuben (Mildred) Carlson of Lake Mills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, June 21, 1963; her son, Ivan "Bud" Valley; her grandson, Jeffrey G Farquhar and her parents.
