1901-1985

F. Verna Buns, 83, died Sunday, June 9, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 11 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Woden, with Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial was held at the Bingham Township Cemetery, Woden.

Mrs. John Kurtzleben was organist. Calvin Kurtzleben and Vernon L. Stohr were ushers.

Casket bearers were Timmy Buns, Randy Buns, Michal Buns, Denny Buns, David Buns and Paul Buns.

Verna, the daughter of Peter and Johanna Deethardt Greenfield, was born June 24, 1901 near Woden. She received her education at the country school near Woden.

She was united in marriage with Antony ''Tony" Buns, February 14, 1922 at the Woden Christian Reformed Church. The couple farmed in the Woden area until their retirement in 1957. In 1960 they moved into Woden.

Verna was baptized and attended the Woden Christian Reformed Church. Later she became a confirmed member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, A.L.C.W., and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Verna is survived by four sons: Kenneth, James, Maurice and Antony V., one sister, Berdine Korte, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Antony; one son; six brothers and three sisters.
