Velma Patterson, 78

Services for Mrs. Velma Patterson, 78, of Woden, who died Tuesday at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt were held l:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden with Rev. Richard Glasgow of the United Presbyterian Church as officiant.

Mrs. Beverly Cataldo served as organist and soloist.

Casket bearers were: Donald Isebrand, Ronald Dahl, Charles Rudisill, Roger Wood, Pete Hugo and Fred Hugo.

Burial was in Bingham Township Cemetery in Woden. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden.

Velma Arlene Patterson, the daughter of Richard S. and Rachel L. (Long) Foster was born Aug. 16, 1905, at Russell, Ia. She received her education at a Catholic Parochial School.

May 19, 1941, she was married to Byron A. Patterson at Gallatin, Missouri. They lived in West Des Moines, Waukee, Alexander and then at Woden where they, ran the Patterson Locker until they retired.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, U.P.W. and Senior Citizens, all at Woden.

She is survived by a step-son, Dwaine A. Patterson and his wife, Therese, and their family; a granddaughter, Ms. Cheryl Monson and her family of Mason City; grandson Richard Barnett and his wife, Pamela, and their family of Jewell; and, a brother-in-law, J.A. Champlin of Mesa, Ariz.

She, was preceded in death by her husband, Byron, July 5, 1967; her son, William Barnett, who died in 1966; her parents; a sister, Mrs. Frances G. Champlin and a brother, Marvin Foster.
