Walter Pihl, 89

Services for Walter Pihl, 89, of Woden, who died Tuesday at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines were held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, at the United Methodist Church in Woden with Rev. Leland Webb as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo served as organist and soloist.

Casket bearers were Ernest Gerdes, Harlan Feltz, Wilbur Crone, Charles Rudisill, Ervin Tegtmeyer and Hanford Brock.

Honorary bearers were Pete Smith, Hans Smith, John Rudisill, Ted Hinders and Elbert Green.

Graveside military rites at Bingham Township Cemetery were conducted by the Woden Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden.

He is survived by his wife, Dora, of Woden; his children: Mrs. Leo (Violet) Price of Garden Grove, Calif., Mrs. Harold (Ruby) Johnson of Indianola and Wilbur Pihl of Woden; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Clara Grenz of Spokane, Wash.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Carl Johnson; his parents; a sister, Mrs. Albert (Edna) Smith; two brothers: Frank Pihl and Clair Pihl.
