Services for Mrs. Marion Mae Buns, 70, of Woden, who died Monday, April 16, 1990 at the Forest City Community Hospital were held 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 20 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden with Rev. Keith Klemm as officiant.

Mrs. John Kurtzleben was organist. Ushers were Lyle Doege and Antony Buns.

Casket bearers were Calvin Eden, Russell Meyering, Michael Buns, James Crone, Beryl Buffington and Bill Gerdes.

Burial was in Bingham Township Cemetery in Woden. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden.

Marion Mae Buns, the daughter of George and Theresa, (Gerdes) Gerdes, was born May 9, 1919 on a farm in Bingham Township in Hancock County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woden. She attended the rural schools of Bingham Township and Woden High School.

April 8, 1939, she was married to Earl Twedt at First Lutheran Church in Britt. They lived in Woden and then farmed south of town. After Earl's death, June 16, 1960, she moved into Woden and operated the Woden Cooperative Telephone Company, until 1964.

April 3, 1962, she was married to John Buns at Clarion. They continued to live in Woden, where Marion helped John in his painting business.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Women of the E.L.C.A., the Woden American Legion Auxiliary and had served on the Woden Town Council for several years.

She is survived by her husband, John Buns of Woden; her children, George Twedt and his wife, Vi, of Wrangell, AK, Mrs. Kathleen Trenary and her husband, Jack of Mt. Union, Robert Twedt and his wife, Katie, of Yerington, NV and Mary Buns of Mason City; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Theresa Gerdes of the Titonka Care Center; and two sisters, Mrs. Mae Twedt of Woden and Mrs. Dixie Buns and her husband, James of Woden.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Twedt; and her father, George Gerdes, May 22, 1950; and her brother-in-law, Mark Twedt.
