Services for James W. Blakley, 65, of Woden, who died Wednesday, December 21, 1988 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, were held 1:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 23 at the United Methodist Church in Woden with Rev. Scott Woeste as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo, organist, accompanied, soloist, Brent Cataldo. Ushers were Roger Wood and Jerry Fox.

Casket bearers were Leroy Senne, Harvey Swingen, Hanford Brock, Hank Ullmann, Ervin Tegtmeyer and Bernard Schmidt.

Burial was in Bingham Township Cemetery in Woden. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Woden.

James Wade Blakley, the son of Herman and Cynthia Hobart (Hite) Blakley, was born January 29, 1923 at Kingsport, TN. March of 1929, Jim moved with his family to Titonka, where they farmed. He attended the rural and community schools of Titonka. From 1945, until his retirement in 1979, he farmed in the Woden area. Jim was also a rural mail carrier from 1956 to 1982.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Woden where he had served as a trustee. He was also a member of the Kossuth County Rural Mail Carrier's Association.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Grace Bacon and her husband, Vern, of Clear Lake and Donna Blakley of Woden; her brother, Kenneth Blakley of Woden; a niece, Diane Lovick of Forest City; a nephew, Larry Bacon of Clear Lake; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
