Mrs. Mabel Duesenberg, 89

Services for Mrs. Mabel Duesenberg, 89, of Garner, who died Sunday at Americana Healthcare Center in Mason City, were held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Jerry Wolcott as officiant.

Mrs. Richard Johnson, organist, accompanied soloist, Julianne Klesel. Ushers were Ben Riemer and John Humphrey.

Casket bearers were Stanley Willson, Jr., Alan Willson, Donald Garlock, Dennis Garlock, Dean Tompkins and Claire Tompkins.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery at Garner. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Mrs. Mabel Sophie Duesenberg, the daughter of Frank and Rica (Schuldt) Schuldt was born May 4, 1894 on a farm in Liberty Township. After graduating from Garner High School in 1912 she received her "Normal Training Teachers Certificate". She taught in the rural schools of Hancock County for many years.

Jan. 20, 1926, she was married to Howard Duesenberg at Garner. They lived in Garner all of their married life.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W. and had served as pianist at the Methodist Church for thirty years. She was also a member of the Garner Garden Club.

She is survived by two step-daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Dorothy) Willson of Northport, Michigan and Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Garlock of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, Jan. 30, 1979; a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Crill; her parents; and a sister, Mrs. Lewis (Esther) Abele.
