Mrs. Irene Anderson
1920-1986

Services for Mrs. Irene Anderson, 65, of rural Garner, who died Monday, Sept. 29 north of her farm home, were held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ventura with Rev. Daird W. Korth as officiant.

James Roseland, organist, accompanied soloist, Mrs. Beryl Wubbena and John Torkelson and Orrin Torkelson who sang as a duet. Ushers were Robert Wolfram and Harry Roenfanz.

Honorary bearers were Bruce Anderson, Beryl Wubbena, Craig Ackarman, Maynard Nielson, Clarence Lenz and Dennis Nonnweiler.

Active bearers were Wilbur Peterson, LaVerne Plagge, Ronald Brager, Norman Juhl, Cliff Prull and Richard Jahn.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery at Garner. Visitation and a prayer service was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Irene Lois Anderson, the daughter of Albert and Nora (Evanson) Nonnweiler was born November 20, 1920 at Miller. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Miller. Irene attended school in Miller and graduated from Garner High School in 1937. From 1939-41, she taught in a rural school in Madison Township.

March 22, 1941, who was married to Nordahl C. Anderson at the Lutheran parsonage in West Union. They farmed their entire married life northeast of Garner. Four children were born to this marriage.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Dorcas Society at Ventura. She was an active member of the choir and was a former Sunday School teacher. She belonged to the Northside Jolly Club and had been a 4-H leader.

She is survived by her husband, Nordahl, of Garner; her son, Joel Anderson and his wife, Kristy, of Forest City, her son, Ross Anderson and his wife, Paula, of Dumont; two grandchildren, Adam and Jennifer of Forest City; her brother-in-law, Virtue Givler of Mason City and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, in infancy; her daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Diane) Christensen in 1968; her parents; three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Givler, Mrs. Doris Young, Beatrice Nonnweiler and two brothers, Lester Nonnweiler and Norman Nonnweiler.
