Services for William Brass, 75, of Garner, who died Tuesday, May 30, 1989 at Indian Lake Park east of Goodell, were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 2 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. James I. Lamb as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo, organist, accompanied, soloist, Gary Meyer. Ushers were Ray Radloff and Fred Schroeder.

Honorary bearers were Aeilt Brass, Eddie Brass, Wilbur Krosch, Joe Wenck, Julius Know and Kenneth Greiman.

Active bearers were Gene Brass, Darrel Steen, Mike Bellos, Leo Kastenmeier, Kevin Stecker and Bob Strayer. Graveside military rites were conducted by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

William Brass, the son of Ehme and Jennie (Fischer) Brass, was born September 20, 1913 on a farm near Buffalo Center. After attending school at Buffalo Center, he farmed with his father and for other farmers in the Buffalo Center area. From April of 1942, until, October of 1945, he served his country in the European Theater of combat.

December 10, 1945, he married Lillian Krosch at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church at Stevens, Iowa. They farmed in the Buffalo Center area until 1958, when they moved to the Garner area, where they continued farming. In 1965, they moved into town.

Bill worked for Winnebago Industries at Forest City until he retired in 1979. For the past two years he was caretaker at Indian Lake Park, east of Goodell.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garner.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Garner; his children, Ronald Brass of Garner, Mrs. Carolyn Gremmer and her husband, Kenneth, of Forest City, Mrs. Darla Leonard and her husband, Larry, of Rutledge, TN and Vernon Brass of Garner; 8 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Aeilt Brass and his wife, Clara, of Buffalo Center and Eddie Brass and his wife, Henrietta, of Lakota; 2 sisters, Mrs. Minnie Steen and her husband, Bill, of Buffalo Center and Mrs. Jennie Frerichs and her husband, Nanne, of Buffalo Center; and a brother-in-law, Albert Frerichs of Buffalo Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Weird Brass; and a sister Mrs. Alice Frerichs.
