Services for Leo Brown, 82, of Garner, who died Friday, Dec. 18, 1987 at Concord Manor Care Center in Garner were held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the United Methodist Church in Garner with Rev. Jerry Wolcott as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo, organist, accompanied soloist, Mrs. W.J. Mack. Ushers were Ben Riemer and John Humphrey.

Casket bearers were Dr. R.J. Ryan, Carl Little, Harry Barnd, Burdette Beers, E.G. Greiman and Alfred Merton.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel where Masonic services were held Monday evening.

Leo Brown, the son of Milo and Myra (Chipman) Brown, was born September 3, 1905 on a farm in Garfield Township in Hancock County. He graduated from Garner High School in 1923. Leo worked for Greiman Ditching Company, Hancock County Co-op Oil association and for 20 years International Harvester Company. After retiring, he operated the Garner Saw Sharpening Shop at his home.

September 3, 1935, he married Bertha Gorath at Mason City.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church; a 50 year member of Bethel Lounge #319 and the Mystic Shrine.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, of Garner; his son, Douglas and his wife, Bernetta, of Parkersburg, WV; four grandchildren, Stacy, Scott, Brandi and Kristin, his brother, Emery and his wife, Ruth of Garner and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Arthur and an infant brother.
