Services for Lowell Maley, 86, of Garner, who died Tuesday, April 5, 1988 at Concord Manor Care Center in Garner were held 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 8 at the United Presbyterian Church in Garner with Rev. Bruce Giese as officiant.

Duane Cummings, organist, accompanied soloist, Bill Renner. Ushers were Alvin Schroeder and Carl Little.

Casket bearers were Byron Stromer, Bill Katter, Norman Henschen, Calvin Goll, Eldon Pearson, and Calvin Kraus.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.

Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Lowell Ray Maley, the son of Washington Ray and Ida Kathryn (Kester) Maley, was born November 12, 1901 at Stanwood. After graduating from Garner High School in 1921, he moved with his family to Sidney, NE where they farmed.

May 17, 1926, he married Esther Alice Hand at Fort Morgan, Co. They farmed near Sidney, NE until 1941, in Eugene, OR until 1944 and northeast of Garner until 1968, when they retired from active farming. Ten years later, they moved into Garner.

Lowell was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and had sung in the choir. He was a former Garner-Hayfield Community School Board member and had been active in the Farm Bureau.

He is survived by his wife, Esther; his children, Dean and his wife, Irene, of Clear Lake, Dale and his wife, Helen, of Garner, Douglas and his wife, Joan, of Denver, CO, Mrs. Doris Earles and her husband, Charles, of Britt and Mrs. Donna Corrick and her husband, Thomas, of Yukon, OK; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Maley; a granddaughter, Mindy Corrick; his parents; and a sister, Mrs. Opal Kratz.
