Services for Mrs. Esther Maley, 83, of Garner, who died Thursday, April 26, 1990 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 30 at the United Presbyterian Church in Garner with Rev. Bruce Giese as officiant.

Soloist, Douglas Hayes, was accompanied by pianist, Lucile Wesson, and organist, Duane Cummings. Ushers were Carl Little and Eldon Pearson.

Casket bearers were Byron Stromer, Calvin Kraus, Bill Katter, Ken Monson, Norman Henschen and Robert Humble.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Mrs. Esther Alice Maley, the daughter of Frank and Alma (Palmer) Hand, was born January 6, 1907 at Sidney, NE. She attended the public schools of Sidney, NE.

May 17, 1926, she was married to Lowell Ray Maley at Fort Morgan, CO. They farmed near Sidney, NE until 1941 when they moved to Eugene, OR where they farmed for two years. In 1944, they moved to Garner where they farmed northeast of town. In 1968, they retired from active farming and in 1978, moved into Garner.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and U.P.W.

She is survived by her children, Dean Maley and his wife, Irene of Clear Lake; Dale Maley and his wife, Helene of Garner, Douglas Maley and his wife, Joan of Denver, CO, Mrs. Doris Earles and her husband, Charles of Britt and Mrs. Donna Corrick and her husband, Thomas of Oklahoma City, OK; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell, April 5, 1988; two grandchildren, Brian Maley and Mindy Corrick; her parents; five sisters, Mrs. Clara Emerson, Mrs. Roy (Hazel) Walker, Mrs. Frank (Emma) Cassidy, Mrs. Glen (Nora) Aires and Mrs. Earl (Vera) Woods; and a brother, Lester Hand.
