Services for Mrs. Ruth Meyer, 58, of Garner, who died Tuesday at her home in Garner, were held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 12, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garner with Rev. James Lamb as officiant.

Mrs. John Haugen, organist, accompanied the church choir.

The members of the Garner Fire Department and their wives served as honorary pallbearers.

Active bearers were Ben Halupnik, Leroy Powell, Don Hoppel, Roger Ginapp, Marty Spriggs and Joe Doerges.

Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.

Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Mrs. Ruth Ann Meyer, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Oehlson) Puckhaber was born Feb. 23, 1927 at Boone. After graduating from Boone High School in 1944, she attended Iowa State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls where she received her teaching degree. Her first teaching position was at Garner.

July 8, 1951 she was married to James Meyer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. The Meyers made their home in Garner where Ruth taught mathematics and science at the Garner-Hayfield Community Schools for most of her married life.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, LWML, was a member of the church choir and had taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Garner Progressive Club, Hi-C Homemaker's Club, N.E.A. and I.S.E.A.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Meyer; her children, James Meyer and his wife, Priscilla, of Belmond, Mrs. Jeff (Julie) Trost of Nashua and John Meyer of Glenwood; four grandchildren and her mother, Mrs. Clara Puckhaber of Garner.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Puckhaber.
