Jacob 'Jake' Putney

Forest City - Jacob "Jake" Putney, 24, of Forest City died Monday (July 25, 2005) as a result of a car accident near Rockwell.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Forest City with the Rev. Catherine Luck officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark St. in Forest City, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Jacob Allan Putney, the son of William Putney and Julie (Smith) Siemonsma, was born April 12, 1981, at Iowa City He grew up in Forest City, where he attended school. He lived in Forest City, where he worked at Bartleson Masonry as a bricklayer.

In 2003, he received a gold medal in target shooting at the Iowa Games in Ames. Jake enjoyed his kids and playing his guitar.

He is survived by his life companion, Nichole Baker of Forest City; daughters, Daelynn and Rhayna of Forest City; stepsons, Brady and Cade Baker of Forest City; his mother, Julie (Jerry) Siemonsma of Taylor Ridge, Ill.; his father, William (Trucia) Putney of Pomona, Kan.; sister, Elizabeth Trampel of Clear Lake; half-sisters, Rashel and Janessa Putney of Pomona, Kan.; half-brother, Justin Putney of Pomona, Kan.; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Beverly Smith of McIntyre; and maternal great-grandmother, Luella Low, of Clear Lake.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents.
