Rites held Saturday for Marlor J. Smith

Funeral services were held last Saturday for Marlor J. Smith, 64, who died June 11 at Hancock memorial hospital in Britt.

The Rev. L. R. Barringer and the Rev. Clarence Matthews officiated at the rites which were conducted at the First Baptist church in Forest City.

Organist was Mrs. Wallace Tweeters and soloist was Miss Phyllis Holland.

Casket bearers were Mike Brock, John Brock. Dennis Brock, Allan Smith, Larry Devin, Vance Holland, Randy Smith and Anthony Holland.

Interment was at Madison township cemetery with Olson-Petersen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Smith was born in Clayton, Ga., on Dec. 24, 1910, the son of Joseph C. and Nora A. (Sear) Smith. On March 11, 1929, he was married in South Carolina to Lucy Caudell Brock.

In 1938, the family moved to a farm west of Crystal Lake. In 1944, they moved to a farm east of Thompson but due to ill health, Mr. Smith retired in 1965 and moved to Forest City. He had been employed by Winnebago Industries as a motor home driver.

Mr. Smith's first wife. Lucy, died on Dec. 26, 1970, and on Nov. 23, 1974, he was married to the former Inez Adams.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Fred H. Smith, of Forest City and three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Coleen) Devin of Longmont, Col.; Mrs. Robert (Zudavee) Holland of Forest City, and Mrs. Steve (Madilene) Jensen of Forest City. Mr. Smith is also survived by four stepsons, Hanford Brock, Woden; Choen Brock, Leland; Bill Adams, Garner, and Richard Allen, Blairsburg, a brother, Mike Smith of Indianapolis, Ind., a half-brother, J. C. Smith of Brunswick, Ga., two sisters, Mrs. Vernon (Marietta) Duckett of Martin, Ga., and Mrs. J. P. (Maude) Moore of Rex, Ga., 27 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Edwin, a stepson, Clifton Brock, a brother, Morris Smith, and a granddaughter.
