Services for Arlene Joy (Jo) Smith, 62, Britt, who died Monday, Oct. 16 at her home in Britt, were held Friday, Oct. 20, 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Britt with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Ruby Hodson, who accompanied the congregation and soloist, Darcy Eisenman. Ushers were Gilbert Guenther and Harry Smith.

Casket bearers were Ron Eisenman, Duane Nelson, Gene Huling, Merle Muhm, Leo Larson and Wayne Fox.

Burial was at the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Arlene Joy Smith, the daughter of Cecil and Loretta Smith Hildebrand, was born December 20, 1926 at Britt. After graduating from high school, she taught country school for three years.

August 18, 1946, she married Charles Smith at Stilson. The couple had been farming in the Britt area.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Britt, the Martha Circle of the Britt United Methodist Church, the Charity Rebekah Lodge #334, the Birthday Club and the 3-G's Club. She enjoyed her family and friends. She like to crochet and took great pride in her spoon collection which she collected on their travels.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck Smith of Britt; three daughters, Connie and her husband, Keith Schmid of Britt, Cathy and her husband, Lino Padilla of Muscatine, and Carmen of Britt; four grandchildren, Maggie Boomgarden, Duane Smith and Selina and Ricky Padilla; four sisters, Edna Mae and her husband, Cyril Mozack of Britt, Betty and her husband, Roland Thompson of Corwith, Yvonne and her husband, Burnell Geving of Mason City, and Sandy and her husband, Jim Jennings of Mason City; one brother, Lee and his wife, Carol
Hildebrand of Bentonville, AR; her mother and father-in-law, Floyd and Icyle Smith of Britt; also many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
