Services for Elvera A. Showalter, 79, Crystal Lake, who died Sunday, March 1, 1992 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, were held Wednesday, March 4, 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Robert Snitzer officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Barb Larson; and soloist, Allan Peebles. Ushers were Ralph Juhl and Jim Larson.

Casket bearers were Jordan Showalter, Dean Showalter, Jeff Showalter, Joel Showalter, Jay Showalter and Jon Showalter.

Burial was at the Crystal Cemetery in Crystal Lake with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Elvera Augusta Showalter, the daughter of Alfred and Gerda Svahn Kellberg, was born June 9, 1912 at Troy, ID. She graduated from high school at Moscow, ID.

January 3, 1931, she married John Leonard Showalter at Moscow. In 1940, the couple moved to Spokane, WA. then returned to Moscow. They attended the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. In 1945, they began serving as missionaries in Bolivia, South America, with the World Mission Prayer League.

Mr. Showalter passed away in 1968 at Santa Cruz, Bolivia. In 1974, Elvera returned to the United States and was employed at a Missions Office in Minneapolis. She retired in 1978 and moved to Crystal Lake where she made her home with her son, Jim.

Elvera was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake and Women of Life at the church. She enjoyed embroidering and quilting.

She is survived by two sons, Jim and Patricia of Crystal Lake, and Jerry and Mary of Minneapolis. MN; seven grandchildren, Jon, Janet, Joel, Jeff, Jordan, Jay and Dean; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Anderson and Eva Rathbun, both of Moscow, ID; and one brother, Layton Kellberg of Pomeroy, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and four sisters.
