Services for Mrs. Leta Schmid, 76, of Crystal Lake who died Wednesday at her home in Crystal Lake, were held 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 8 at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Todd Schlitter as officiant.

Organist was Jeanette Rogeness. Ushers were Donald Cottington and Kenneth Sorenson.

Casketbearers were Wilbur Sorenson, Vernal Benson, Ralph Juhl, Wilbur Crone, Allan Peebles and Russell Helm.

Burial was in Crystal Township Cemetery at Crystal Lake.

Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt.

Mrs. Leta Schmid, the daughter of Herbert and Verna (Lang) Kingsbury was born April 6, 1909 at Defiance, Ia. At the age of six she moved with her family to Thompson where she attended school.

June 27, 1931 she was married to Herman Schmid at Forest City. They farmed in the Thompson and Woden area until her husband's death in 1959. She later moved into Crystal Lake where she made her home until her death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women at Crystal Lake.

She is survived by her four sisters: Mrs. Herbert (Maxine) Friesenborg of Thompson, Mrs. Helen Harryman of Rialto, Calif., Mrs. Merle (Lora) Harms of Long Beach, Calif. and Mrs. Dean (Dorothy) Thorland of Buffalo Center; her brother, Walter Kingsbury and his wife, Marie of Crystal Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Schmid; her son, Richard, at the age of three; her parents; and four brothers: Donald, Russell, Glen and Leon Kingsbury.
