Services for Mrs. Martha Riggle, 86, of Crystal Lake, who died Wednesday, April 24, 1991 at Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt were held 10 a.m., Monday, April 29, at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Ted Stowers as officiant.

Mrs. Dean Cataldo was organist and accompanied Bruce Wubben, soloist. Ushers were Richard Gamey and Keith Sorenson.

Honorary bearers were members of the Crystal Lake American Legion Auxiliary, Post #409. Active bearers were Mitchell Delger, Steve Delger, Rodney Riggle, Bruce Riggle, Troy Riggle, Richard Helland, Jr., Steve Prihoda, Michael Dahlum, Dave Jones and Kelly Wadding.

Burial was in Crystal Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Britt.

Martha Katherine Helene Riggle, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Schmidt) Bergman, was born August 15, 1904 at Pine City, MN. She moved to the Forest City area with her family, where she attended the rural schools. Martha worked as a housekeeper for various families in Linden Township for several years.

August 16, 1931, she married Walter "Ray" Riggle at Rochester, MN. They farmed in Winnebago County and did custom work until they retired in 1956. She had driven a school bus for the Crystal Lake Consolidated Schools and had also worked as a waitress and cook.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W. and the Crystal Lake American Legion Post #409.

She is survived by her children, Richard Helland of Glenville, MN, Mrs. Margaret Delger of Albert Lea, MN, Mrs. Donna Delger and her husband, Arno, of Glenville, MN and Walter Riggle and his wife, Joretta, of Glenville, MN; 11 grandchildren: 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Esther Eller and her husband, Edward of Roland, Mrs. Florence Knapper and her husband, Earl of Crystal Lake, and Mrs. Marie Kingsbury and her husband, Walter of Crystal Lake; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Bergman of Clear Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Riggle, January 27, 1979; two grandchildren, Brenda Delger and Bradley Delger; a great-grandson, Nick Dahlum; her parents; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Holmes and Mrs. Louise Meyer; and two brothers, Melvin Bergman and Walter Bergman.
