1910-1992

Services for Maynard C. Powers, 81, of Crystal Lake, who died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1992 at Good Samaritan Center in Forest City, were held 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17, at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Ted Stowers as officiant.

Lisa Sonius, organist, accompanied Jacqueline Hall and Brenda Wagaman, who sang as a duet. Ushers were Ron Hartman and Richard Larson.

Honorary bearers were Norman Madson, Luverne Larson, Jerry Michaelson, Jack Krull, William Leerar and Walter Peterson.

Active bearers were James Powers, Jeff Powers, Brent Powers, Kris Hanson, Kerby Hanson and Eric Hensley.

Burial was in Crystal Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Britt.

Maynard Charles Powers, the son of Charles and Harriet (Shattuck) Powers, was born July 27, 1910 at Waukegan, IL. He received his education at Crystal Lake.

April 15, 1934, he married Marian Josephine Davis at Hanlontown. They made their home in Crystal Lake. Maynard drove a school bus for the Crystal Lake Schools for 17 years, worked at the Crystal Lake Creamery for many years and was then self-employed as a trucker until he retired.

March 18, 1978, he married Reba Pospisil at Crystal Lake. They made their home in Crystal Lake.

Maynard was a member of the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake.

He is survived by his wife, Reba Powers of Crystal Lake; his children, Mrs. Marlene Bushman and her husband, James of Urbandale, Jack Powers and his wife, Wanda of Garner and Mrs. Karen Hanson and her husband, Marlon of Forest City; Three stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Tiedens and her husband, David of Phoenix, AZ; Mrs. Alice Hix and her husband, Art of Fenton; and Mrs. Lois Lowenberg and her husband, Richard of Iowa City; a step-daughter-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Omlar of Columbus, OH; four stepsons, Eugene Smith and his wife, Shirley of Mason City, James Smith and his wife, Sandra of Phoenix, AZ, Dewey Smith and his wife, Ruth of Linden Hurst, IL and Lawrence Smith and his wife, Kathy of Quantico. VA; 11 grandchildren; 27 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; a great-
great-step-grandchild; a brother, Glen Powers of Hemet, CA; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary Powers of Vallejo, CA; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian Powers, May 20, 1976; his parents; a sister, Mrs. Cora Taylor; a brother, Leon Powers; and a stepson, Frank R. Smith.
