Services for Tillie Peterson, 96, Crystal Lake, who died at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, were held Saturday, May 1 at the United Methodist Church in Klemme [should be Crystal Lake] with Rev. Drew Zahn officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Rev. Kenneth Suetterlin, who will accompanied soloist, Bruce Wubben. Ushers were Ron Hartman and Joe Korsa.

Casketbearers were Rick Adams, Steve Carew, Brent Larson, Andy Asmus, Alan Larson, and Scot Newhouse.

Interment was held at the Crystal Lake Cemetery.

Tillie Peterson, the daughter of Berend and Antje DeGroot Katuin was born December 3, 1902, in Bellingwolde, Holland. As a child, Tillie immigrated to the United States with her parents. The family settled in the Kanawha area, where Tillie received her education in country schools.

Tillie was united in marriage with Peter J. Baker in 1924 in Kanawha. The couple farmed in the Kanawha area then lived, for a short time. in Wisconsin. They later returned to Iowa and farmed near Hutchins.

March 18, 1944, Tillie married Walter E. Peterson. The couple farmed in the Crystal Lake area until 1974. In 1993, they moved into Crystal Lake. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, March 18, 1994. Mr. Peterson passed away December 13, 1994.

Tillie attended the Upper Flat Evangelical Church and was active in the Crystal Lake Senior Citizens. She enjoyed making candles, dolls and quilts. Tillie and Walter quilted together for over 10 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Ann Larson of Buffalo Center; one son, Allen Baker, and wife, Arlene of Forest City: one step-son, James Peterson, and wife, Marlene of Britt; one daughter in-law, Mary Baker of Waukee; one step-daughter in-law, Hazel Peterson of Miller: eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one-great-great grandchild; one sister, Anna Paulsen of Clarion; and one brother, John Katuin, and wife Ruth of Modesto, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter Baker, and husband, Walter Peterson; son, John; step-son. Gilbert; one grandchild: two sisters; and seven brothers.
