Services for Nita Arlene Peterson, 83, of Britt who died Thursday, May 19, 1999, at Westview Care Center in Britt were held Monday, May 24, 1999 at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with Rev. James A. Mattson officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Mrs. Donna Tech and soloist. Marlene Smith. Ushers were George Alke and Don Dallman.

Interment was held following the memorial service at Crystal Lake Cemetery.

Nita, the daughter of Mike and Sadie Christiansen Nelson, was born on June 4, 1915 at Titonka. Nita graduated from Crystal Lake High School, and later worked for Nelsen Grocery in Crystal Lake.

Nita was united in marriage with Ernest Peterson on December 11. 1938 in Crystal Lake. The couple farmed in the Crystal Lake area and later moved to a farm in the Buffalo Center area. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson moved to Stratford, WI in 1958, and moved back to Crystal Lake in 1978. In 1985, they moved into Britt. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on December 11, 1993.

Nita is survived by son, Larry Peterson and his wife, Kathy of Forest City; daughter, Beverly Borg of Fairbault, MN; son, Gary Peterson, of Forest City; son, Jerry Peterson and his wife, Julie of Forest City; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters; Elsie Graney of Mason City and Alyce Chally of Algona and brother, Bill Nelson and his wife Gwendolyn of Algona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ernest, two sisters and one grandson.
