Services for Ernest L. Peterson, 78, Britt, who died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1993, at the Westview Care Center in Britt, were held Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1:30 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with Rev. James A. Mattson officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Donna Tech, who accompanied the congregational hymns. Usher was Melvin Pergande.

Burial was at the First Lutheran Church in Britt with Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. [Crystal Lake Cemetery, Crystal Lake]

Ernest L. Peterson, the son of Oley and Martha Overgard Peterson, was born August 23, 1915 near Titonka. He attended the country schools. He farmed with his parents until his marriage.

December 11, 1938, he married Nita Nelson at Crystal Lake. The couple farmed in the Crystal Lake area and later moved to a farm in Buffalo Center. In 1958, they moved to Stratford, WI, until 1978 when they moved back to Crystal Lake. In 1985, they moved into Britt. The couple celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary December 11, 1993.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Britt Silver Stars.

He is survived by his wife, Nita Peterson of Britt; a daughter, Beverly Borg of Albert Lea, MN; three sons, Larry and his wife, Kathryn Peterson of Lake Mills, Gary and Jerry Peterson, both of Forest City; two brothers, Wilbur Peterson of Crystal Lake and Roy Peterson of Canistota, SD; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, one brother and two sisters.
