Last Rites Monday For Mrs. Emma Medaus, 76
Lived In Klemme Vicinity For Many Years

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, October 12 from the Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church for Mrs. Emma Medaus, 76, with Rev. Vernon E. Jaberg officiating.

Mrs. Milvern Barz and Mrs. A. H. Dulmes sang two numbers, "In the Garden" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer", accompanied by Mrs. William Reinhart at the organ.

Interment was in Concord Cemetery at Garner, and pall bearers were Ed Christians, Werner Schlawin, George Thiemann, Albert Schmidt, Fred Klinge, and Ernest Henschen.

Obituary

Mrs. Carl Medaus (nee Emma Bock) whose death is mourned by her loved ones, family and friends, was born on September 16, 1877 in Teswoos, Germany. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bock.

She received the sacrament of Christian Baptism as an infant in the local Church in Teswoos, Germany. She also received her elementary, education in this village. As a young girl of eleven years of age she came to America with her parents.

Miss Emma Bock was united in the bonds of Holy Matrimony with Mr. Carl (commonly known as Charles) Medaus. God in his providential grace blessed this union with seven children, three of which died in infancy or in youth.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Medaus farmed various farms all of which were in the vicinity of Klemme, Iowa.

Mrs. Medaus had been a member of Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church of Klemme, Iowa, but for the past eleven years had made her home in Grafton, Iowa.

Mrs. Medaus has been in ill health for some time and was called to her eternal reward in the hospital in Hampton on Friday, October 9, having attained the age of 76 years and 23 days.

She leaves to mourn, sons, Carl and Edwin of Klemme, and, daughters, Mrs. Ned Howard of Klemme and Helen Medaus of Grafton, Iowa. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Fred Saathoff of Woden, Iowa and two brothers, William Bock of Springfield, S. D. and Emil Bock, of St. Paul, Minnesota. She is also survived by six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband and by children, Walter and Emma and an infant son. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Rosa, Mrs. Hagrenes of Minneapolis and by Mrs. John Buns of Woden and by one brother, Charles Bock of Mapleton, Minnesota.
