Lundberg Obituary

George Lundberg, son of James and Mary Anderson-Lundberg, was born near Garner, Iowa, December 29, 1876, and passed away May 26, 1943, at 7:15 a.m. at a Mason City hospital at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 27 days.

He graduated from the Forest City high school in 1899, and later taught the sixth grade of the Forest City schools for 15 years. After leaving school work he devoted the rest of his life to farming on the old homestead east of Forest City.

At an early age he joined the Congregational church. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge for 43 years and was also a member of the Rebekah lodge. He was an active worker, and passed through all the chairs of the lodge. He took part in the last initiation a few weeks before his death. He was of a quiet uncomplaining disposition, always ready to help where needed.

He is survived by three brothers and two sisters, Will, Albert and Frank and sister Mary, all of Forest City, and a sister, Mrs. C. E. Smith, of St. Maries, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1916, his mother in 1931, and his brother John in 1934. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Olson funeral home Friday afternoon conducted by Rev. G. F. Barsalou, pastor of the Congregational church. The Odd Fellows conducted the services at the grave. He was buried beside his parents in Madison cemetery.

Those who served as pall bearers were C. D. Fox, R. E. Hanson, G. J. Otis, M. C. Wheeler, J. L. Wheeler and W. H. Drewes.

Among those from out of town who were here to attend the services were Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Charlson of Dows; Mrs. Helmer Nelson of Hartland, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lundberg, Yankton, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Arvin Bunting, Mrs. B. Jergensen, daughter Marion, and Doris Williams, all of Britt; Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Griffith, Vernon Center, Minnesota, W. G. Ostrander, Fred B. Alvey, Joe G. Cries of Thompson, Albert C. Johnson and Axel Bergdal of Lake Mills.
