Services for Richard Gerald Katuin, 50, Klemme, who died Friday, January 15, 1988, at his mother's farm near Kanawha, were held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1:30 p.m., at the Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha with Rev. Bert Denherder and Rev. Mark Young officiating.

Music was provided by organist, Mrs. John Nikkel, and soloist, Mrs. Paul Smith. Ushers were Hersman Smidt and Dean Smidt.

Honorary casket bearers were Alfred Assink, Richard Abbas, John Eekhoff, Ben Katuin and Chris Benson. Active casket bearers were Leonard Kaduce, Harlan Carlson, Paul Luppen, Lyle Anderson, Steve Martin and Wayne Abbas.

Burial was at the Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha, with the Ewing Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Richard Gerald Katuin, the son of Dick and Grace Eenhuis Katuin, was born October 19, 1937 at Kanawha. He graduated from Kanawha High School in 1955. Richard was a carpenter until 1960 when he entered the Army. After his discharge in 1962, he returned to carpentry in the Hancock and Wright Counties.

On May 1, 1971, he married Beth Robinson at Clarion. They made their home on a farm near Holmes, where he farmed until 1978 and then moved to Klemme in 1980.

Mr. Katuin was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Reformed Church at Kanawha. He enjoyed playing softball and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dick, on January 17, 1984 and one sister, Nadine.

Survivors include his wife, Beth; his mother, Grace Katuin, of Kanawha; a brother, Donald of Monticello; and a brother-in-law, Dale Bakker and his wife, Joyce, of Rock Valley; eight nieces and five nephews.
