Mrs, Mary Jane Jorgenson, 88

Services for Mrs. Mary Jane Jorgenson, 88, of Garner, who died Thursday at Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner were held 10:30 a.m., Mon., Nov. 23 at the United Presbyterian Church in Garner with Rev. David C. Orrison as officiant. Mrs. Berneace Cataldo, organist, accompanied soloist, Dr. Lowell Johnson.

N.E. Brear served as usher. Casketbearers were Earl Rygh, E.D. "Red" Buntenbach, Walter Edelen, Clarke Pollock, B.C. Berge and Arlo Sienknecht. Burial was in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Mary Jane Jorgenson, the daughter of Titus and Elizabeth (Nesbit) Davis was born Oct. 29, 1893 at Pawnee City, Nebraska. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and taught home economics at Garner for several years. June 26, 1919 she was married to Raymond Jorgenson at Lincoln, Nebraska. They owned and operated the Klemme Times until 1952 when they moved to Garner where they operated the North Iowa Printing Company. After her husband's death in February of 1953 she continued to run the printing shop until her retirement in 1970. In January of 1977 she moved to Concord Manor in Garner.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, U.P.W., Eastern Star. Recital Club, Iowa Press Club, Jingle Belles Contest Club and was also a charter member of the Iowinians.

She is survived by her son, Ray Jorgenson and his wife, Beverly, of Phoenix, Arizona, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two sisters; Mrs. Erma Liebendorfer of Omaha, NE. and Mrs. Ruth Mendell of Huntington, CA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her parents, a sister, Mrs. Nona Chapman and three brothers, David, Jack and Ted Davis.

Garner - Mary Jane Jorgenson, 88, Garner, died Thursday (Nov. 19, 1981) at a nursing home here.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Presbyterian Church here, the Rev. Danid Orrison officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Sunday at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Garner.

Mrs. Jorgenson was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and taught home economics several years at Garner. She and her husband owned, and operated the Klemme Times newspaper until 1952, they moved to Garner to operate North Iowa Printing, Co. until 1970. She had lived at Concord Manor here since 1977 and was a member of United Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a son, Ray, Phoenix, Ariz., three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Erma Liebendorfer, Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Ruth Mendell, Huntington Beach, Calif.
