Services Thursday For Mrs. Selma Johnson

Services for Mrs. John (Selma) Johnson, 79, of Crystal Lake, who died Monday at her home, will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. the Rev. April Larson and the Rev. Judd Larson will conduct the service.

Mrs. James Larson, organist, will accompany soloist, Pastor April Larson.

Casketbearers will be grandsons: Bruce Johnson, Gene Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Toni Johnson, John Brock and Rickie Brock.

Burial will be in Crystal Lake Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake with the Cataldo Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Selma Josephine Johnson, the daughter of Ole and Emma (Charleson) Langerud was born November 27, 1899 on a farm in Winnebago County. She attended the rural schools of Winnebago County and was confirmed in West Prairie Church.

January 17, 1917, she was married to John S. Johnson at her parents home in Winnebago County. They farmed in the Winnebago County, Scarville, and Hancock County areas until retiring in 1960 when they moved into Crystal Lake.

She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake and was also active in Ladies Aid and Circle.

She is survived by her husband John; her children, Mrs. Choen (Norma) Brock of Leland, Marvin and his wife, Tessie of Hayfield, Maynard of Crystal Lake and Jerry and his wife. Charlene of Belmond; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 2 daughters-in-law, Mrs. Eunice Johnson of Garner and Mrs. Eva Johnson of Leland.

She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Donald and Orland; her parents; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mabel Gjerde and Mrs. Edna Johnson; and 3 brothers. Elmer Langerud, Irving Langerud and Clarence Langerud.
