Services for Maynard J. Johnson, 68, of Crystal Lake who died Thursday, November 4, 1993 at Westview Care Center in Britt were held 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 8, 1993 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Robert Snitzer as officiant.

Mrs. James Larson, organist, accompanied, Allan Peebles, soloist. Ushers were Ralph Juhl and Garry Wilson.

Casketbearers were: Kevin Johnson, Gene Johnson, Bruce Johnson, Tom Johnson, John Brock and Rick Brock.

Burial was in Crystal Township Cemetery in Crystal Lake. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Britt.

Maynard Junior Johnson, the son of John S. and Selma J. (Langerud) was born November 23, 1924 on a farm near Scarville. He was baptized at North Prairie Lutheran Church west of Lake Mills and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church in Forest City. He attended the rural schools of Winnebago County and then graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1943.

He farmed with his parents until 1957, when he began working as a carpenter with his brother, Marvin. He also worked as an independent carpenter for many years. Due to ill health he moved to Westview Care Center in Britt. August 5, 1993.

He was a charter member of Calvery Lutheran Church and had served as a trustee on the church council for many years.

He is survived by a sister, Norma Brock of Leland; two brothers. Marvin Johnson and his wife, Tessie, of Hayfield and Jerry Johnson and his wife, Charlene, of Truman, Minnesota: a sister-in-law, Eunice Johnson of Garner and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Selma Johnson, March 20, 1978: his father. John Johnson, February 22, 1981; two brothers, Donald Johnson in 1976 and Orland Johnson in 1976; a sister-in-law, Eva Johnson in 1985 and a brother-in-law, Choen Brock in 1991.
